Soccer is one of my favorite sports because you get to run a lot and it is very competitive. I also love how it is pretty much a world-wide sport. You can go anywhere in the world, and even though you might not speak the same language, you will probably both be able to play soccer.

The Paicho team has been in DC for a week now and having a great time learning about American history, culture and soccer!

Nancy, Team Captain: We are having a lot of fun and seeing new things in America. There are many new things for us to see everyday. But America is so cold! You have no sun here! In America, there are very nice fields to play soccer on. There are many things that look different than Paicho. Even your pigs look different. But I saw okra, and that looks the same in both countries. We left you some questions, did you see them? We look forward to hearing from you. Thank you for being our friends. Thank you for the gifts, it is so wonderful for our team and all of Paicho!

I play soccer because it’s a great team sport. We have a lot of fun on the field. My parents have encouraged me to play since I was five years old because it is good exercise.

I play soccer because I started when I was 6 years old, and still do, because I like having fun and getting exercise with my friends. Some boys are better than us, but our team tries hard to be the best we can be. My parents love that I play. Sometimes my family will practice soccer outside.

Are you having fun? What do you like about soccer?

I love soccer and I have played since I was 4 years old. I play other sports so I don’t have to choose one over the other. Boys seem to be better but that is why we play other girl teams. We always try our hardest. My family really likes soccer and encourage me to be active. Do you like being here?

Maryam: Wow! You have played for so many years. For me, I only started 3 years ago. Soccer for girls is new for our community. But now we want to encourage young girls to come play with us. It is good to know you have all started when you were very young. I like being in the US so much. It is very different than our country. The only thing we dont like is the cold food! We had sandwiches yesterday, we did not like them! But in America they have learned to cook chicken very well!

Kevin: I started playing four years ago. I am much better now! It is good that your parents encourage you to play. For many of us it was a struggle to play. But now our parents see the opportunities we can gain from playing, and they see we are very good! I have really enjoyed my trip here. I like that here in the US you have many trees near your houses. Americas are very nice people!

Jennifer: My favorite part about America is that your people all look different. You are all different tribes but are all Americans. Also, here the youth are very empowered. Thank you for being our friends.
